May 29, 1919: "E. C. Pulaski, the local forest service representative, states that a station will soon be established on Striped peak, which looms high on the St. Joe divide southwest of this city. The elevation of Striped peak is 6329 feet. The highest mountain in the district is Stevens peak, southeast of Mullan, which is 6826 feet." (The Wallace Miner)
July 11, 1929: "The forest fire which broke out Tuesday along Marble creek, in the Avery region, has virtually burned itself out, the Striped Peak lookout reported to the ranger station here." (The Spokesman-Review)
1936: The lookout was burned in a wildfire.
