1921: "Another mile of line was built between the town of Dreary and Potato Hill, a new lookout point established in Section 14, Township 40 North, Range 2 West." (Annual Report of the Potlatch TPA)
April 18, 1939: "Mount Dreary was in line today for a forest lookout station with a commanding view of a wide area.
District U.S. Forest Ranger Ed Helmers said the Dreary chamber of commerce had donated 10 acres atop the mountain, also know as Potato Hill, for a station. Funds were raised by subscription." (Twin Falls News)
