September 17, 1915: "John Swanson came in from his work on the fire patrol the fore part of the week. His lookout station was at Freezeout." (Clearwater Republican)
1915: "During the season we constructed eighteen miles of new telephone line, one line extending from Clarkia in Sec. 6-42-2E., to a point near White Rock Springs in Sec. 8-42-3E., a distance of nine miles. We also made a connection with the line between the Clearwater Timber Protective Association's lookout on Freezeout Mountain and Elk River, thus giving the three Associations direct telephone connection." June 20, 1919: "Wm. Niesham and Miss Lillie Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Simpson, of Eureka Ridge, were married in Lewiston, last Friday, and arrived in Orofino on Saturday's afternoon train. The happy couple were met at the train by the joint Feminine and Junior Band and after a vigorous production of typical wedding musical numbers, accompanied the newlyweds to the Hotel Orofino, where the serenading finished. The groom departed for Freezeout, via Headquarters, to this frigid lookout via Clarke, where the honeymoon will be passed on the cool heights of this towering peak." (Clearwater Republican)
