August 1, 1929: "A careless smoker was said to have been the cause of a fire that covered half an acre in section 3 above Bonners Ferry early Tuesday morning. The fire was reported by the Myrtle creek lookout to the association at 5 a.m. A warden and two men controlled the blaze by 6:30, they reported." (Pend Oreille Review)
