1915: "We also built a line of nine miles from Emida, in Sec. 33-44-2W, to a look-out point in Sec. 14-43-3W., where we established a look-out with direct connection by telephone with the Fire Warden's headquarters." (Report of Fire Committee - Coeur d'Alene Timber Protective Association - 1915)
1921: "The St. Joe National Forest, with whom we cooperate in the protection of that part of our territory which is embraced in the Palouse Division of the St. Joe National Forest, also constructed about twelve miles of new telephone line this season. This line gives the Forest Ranger in charge of this district telephone communication with a good lookout point known as 'Dennis Butte,' situated in Section 15, Township 43 North, Range 3 West, which was not utilized heretofore, owing to lack of telephone communication." "Three new permanent lookout points were established this year within Association territory. One of these, 'Dennis Butte,' was improved by the Forest Service." (Annual Report of the Potlatch TPA)
