1955: "To improve the Association radio system and permit better radio operations into the Orogrande Basin, our VHF radio repeater is being moved from Bald Mountain Lookout to Shanghai Mountain. This new location will permit more satisfactory use of VHF radio in this and other areas. With the cooperation of the Washington Water Power Company, a power line was built to Shanghai Lookout for a VHF relay installation in 1956." (Clearwater TPA Annual Report - combined 1955 - 56)
