1924: A salmon Forest lookout report shows that two men are stationed at this point this season, one of which is an emergency man.

September 12, 1934: "Willard Rood had the misfortune to break both of his arms last Friday. He was at Sagebrush lookout riding a horse without a saddle on a steep hill. The horse started to run and Willard was thrown down the hill a distance of forty feet, breaking the bones of his arms near the wrist. He walked to the road, a distance of 15 miles where he was picked picked up by a car and brought to Salmon where the fractures were cared for by a local physician at the Rose hosp[ital. Willard was lookout at the Sagebrush station." (Recorder Herald)
July 12, 1951: "Leo A. Houpt, Goodman, Missouri, is at Sage Brush." (The Recorder-Herald)
July 19, 1951: "The Forest Service proposes to sell, donate, abandon or destroy on or after August 16, 1951, the following property: 7 mile spur telephone line to Sagebrush Lookout." (The Recorder Herald)
July 26, 1951: "Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams and daughter called at the Kriley ranch Wednesday evening to pick up the Sagebrush lookout, who had come down from the lookout because of illness. He was replaced by Bob Morrison." (The Recorder Herald)
August 7, 1952: "Sagebrush lookout was manned last week by Mr. Anderson. Oliver Williams and Lester Gutzman took him up and introduced him to his new residence." (The Recorder Herald)
August 6, 1953: "Lester Gutzman was a caller at Kriley's Thursday morning where he took supplies for Sagebrush lookout." (The Recorder Herald)
September 10, 1953: "Oliver Williams took supplies up to Sagebrush lookout Friday morning." (The Recorder Herald)
August 24, 1959: "A forest fire fighting helicopter pilot took time out for an appendectomy exercise Sunday in north central Idaho.
At the Sagebrush lookout post some 20 miles west of Salmon, Boyd Yeager radioed service headquarters here that he was having severe stomach cramps.
The service contacted helicopter Charles Hench who was at mop-up operations on the forest fire in the Big Hat Creek area some 30 miles south of Salmon.
Hench jumped over to Sagebrush, picked up Yeager and took him to the hospital in Salmon where doctors extracted his appendix Sunday afternoon." (The Post-Register)
August 26, 1959: "A Forest Service lookout was moved by helicopter from the Sagebrush Post some 20 miles west of here (Salmon) to Salmon for removal of his appendix.
Boyd Yeager was stricken by severe stomach cramps and radioed for help. Pilot Charles Hench, Boise, flew his 'copter from mop-up operations on the Big Hal Creek fire to the lookout post and picked up the stricken man.
Doctors removed Yeager's appendix." (Idaho State Journal)
June 20, 1963: "Recent arrival at the Ranger Station is James Rau of Michigan, who will man Sagebrush lookout." (The Recorder Herald)
August 13, 1969: "Ninety lightning strikes were reported from the Sagebrush Lookout on the Salmon Forest west of Salmon and 751 lightning strikes were reported in the Challis National Forest. One small fire was touched off in the Challis area." (Idaho State Journal)
August 14, 1969: "Sagebrush lookout on the Salmon National Forest appeared to be the center of Monday night's electrical display.
Lookout Roger Kaiser reported counting 90 flashes and strikes of lightning in all. Very little rain fell at that point however.
Sagebrush Lookout is on the Cobalt Ranger District on the west side of Panther Creek." (The Recorder-Herald)
