August 18, 1938: "It's not summer time above the 9,000-foot level in Challis national forest.
Dispatcher Don Crawford reported 'virtually all lookout stations above 9,000 feet reported snow flurries for Aug. 14.' The temperature was only 27 degrees above zero at Roughneck lookout station." (Twin Falls News)
March 26, 1948: "Nine lakes can be seen from Roughneck peak lookout in Challis National Forest of Idaho." (Teton Valley News)
July 30, 2012: The lookout evacuated. The Halstead fire had caused concern for the safety of the lookout staff.
