August 5, 1952: "Seventeen Explorers and their guide, A.C. Reed, made the five day trip to Meyers Cove in the Salmon country last week. Carrying provisions and sleeping bags the group hiked a total of fifty miles during the outing. They visited several lakes under the Sleeping Deer mountain near Challis. The mountain is a former lookout station of the forest service. These Explorers making the trip ranged in ages from 14 to 17 years." (The Post-Register)
