1940's: The tower abandoned.
1981: "An L-4 cabin on a 10-foot high log tower was built on Barren Hill by the Selway National Forest in 1931 at a cost of $791.90. Slim Tunstill and Rufus Robinson of the Moose Creek District were the carpenters." (Louis Hartig, 'Historic Facilities of the Lochsa Ranger District' - 1981)
